Happy National Dog Day to all your fury friends! They have been our closest and dearest friends since the beginning of civilization. The loyalty dogs give to their human is beyond belief, wanting nothing but love and affection in return. We would do anything for the happiness and wellness of our four-legged companions, even when their little “surprises” around the home leave a not-so pleasant view. Yes, we’re talking about urine stains. For those of us who have carpets, urine stains are a very unsightly view, not to mention the smell they leave behind can be very unpleasant.
So, how do we show our love and appreciation to our doggies. By using eco friendly products to clean up their urine stains, instead of harsh chemicals.
-2 cups white distilled vinegar
-2 cups of lukewarm water
-4 generous tablespoons of baking soda
-2 absorbant cloths
Fold up a thick rag over the stain. Really try to get it all out. This step is very important, because you want as much urine to come out of the carpet as possible. Placing something heavy over the rag really helps the rag absorb more of the urine. If you really want to take out most of the stain, place a hot iron over it for a few seconds (Make sure you rag doesn’t burn!) When you are done with this step mix the distilled vinegar with the lukewarm water. Add 4 tablespoons of baking soda, slow down if the fizzing is getting excessive. Thoroughly spray the affected area. Let it sit for 5 minutes, then gently rub with any cloth and and apply the absorbent cloths. And Voila! A clean, stink-free carpet.
